The programs which have been developed by the Awareness Foundation (and which will continue to be developed) have been as a result of communication between The Awareness Foundation and the area churches, government officials and community leaders. It is the intent of The Awareness Foundation to ask what is needed and wanted, then to fulfill that need with the cooperation of the individuals and groups which requested it in a manner which is timely, efficient and is evidenced by Integrity, Responsibility and Commitment.
PROGRAMS AND ACTIVITIES
Inner City Slickers: The Awareness Foundation has been working very passionately in our inner- cities focusing on our children and developing integrity building programs that give opportunities to our young adults that are not usually available to them. Our latest program is called Inner-City Slickers, inspired by the film. Castle Rock Entertainment has joined us on this creative endeavor. At our ranch in Agua Dulce we take inner-city children to get "duded" up and spend a weekend as an Inner-City Slicker.
Feed The Family: We are proud to announce the addition of Feed The Family to our roster of programs that deal with the wholeness and completeness of human life in our Inner Cities. This newly developed program will operate four times a year in Los Angeles. As we move forward with this program, this will be a once a month endeavor. We will be working with up to Fifty Families at a time, providing the basic food products that will insure our families are getting the proper nutrition they need.
C.E. (Accessible Computer Education): A.C.E. is a computer training program that is bringing hands-on computer education to the inner-city, enabling any individual of any age or background to develop skills and create career opportunities at no cost to the recipient. The Awareness Foundation is currently undertaking the task of providing the necessary hardware, software, instructors and arrangements for adequate facilities.
Picture Magic: The Awareness Foundation has teamed up with two world renown photographers, Mr. Tony Bell and Mr. Jim Hagopian in creating an innovative program entitled "Picture Magic". This creative and challenging program encourages our inner- city youth to go out into their neighborhoods and photograph particular aspects of their environment that they find beautiful, unique and inspiring. We chose one photograph from each child and have a exhibition of their work at The ARCO Center for Junior Achievement. They are awarded trophies from the Mayor and other Political and Religious Leaders, for their creativity and vision. The photographs from every child will then be assembled into a beautifully designed, hard cover book that will be sold to the public with the proceeds going to the children for their education.
